SUMMONING SUNSHINE THROUGH THE RAIN AT MAMA’S PLACE PROD.
Known for his richly layered vocal arrangements, AG Berg (founder of Senator and the New Republic) receives direction from Michael Tudor to harmonize an onomatopoeia. Michael explains the arrangement, “The third verse needed a dynamic lift. Perhaps a repetitive background vocal part was the answer. A clue came from the lyric which describes sunshine through the rain. Why not sing ‘Pitter Patter’ as rain hits a windowpane. To extend the analogy, the imagined windowpane suggests the psychedelic treatment of the vocal as it morphs in to a ray of sunshine.” Berg and Tudor are casualties of 60’s AM Gold, if nothing else…
The track on this session is “One More Try” by AG Berg, Ken Maiuri and Michael Tudor.
